Chapter 1 Returns to Fortnite in New Permanent Mode, Available Now
Fortnite's new permanent OG gamemode is now available in-game, giving all players the opportunity to experience classic Battle Royale once again.
Chapter 1 Gameplay
Running from now until January 31st at 2AM ET, Season 1 of OG covers Fortnite's original state, featuring the classic loot pool and first iteration of the map. To start, Fortnite OG will run through the original initial Seasons of Chapter 1, being much shorter than they were during their first appearances. At launch, Solo and Squads playlists are live in both Zero Build and classic Battle Royale, with Duos expected to arrive soon. A Ranked mode has also been officially confirmed by Epic.
Despite not being present in Chapter 1, a number of modern quality-of-life changes that have been added to Fortnite since 2019 will remain active. Mechanics like building are uniform with Chapter 6 Battle Royale, along with some updated movement features: sprinting, sliding, mantling, door bashing and healing whilst moving all remain.
Epic have balanced Chapter 1's rougher edges amongst new, polished gameplay features, keeping the core game itself 'OG'. Reboot vans can be found across the Island, despite not actually being introduced until Season 8, and sniper scopes have a glare - something that wasn't added until Chapter 4. Double pump is also now possible once again, along with a max material count of 999.
Epic says "great care has been taken to ensure that every tree, Chest, car, and object is right where you remember it". In Zero Build, they've added Ziplines and Ascenders to help you get to hard-to-reach locations.

The loot pool for day one of Fortnite OG will be the same as the loot pool was on day one of Fortnite Battle Royale Chapter 1 Season 1 over seven years ago, with more items being unvaulted as Chapter 1 - Season 1 goes on. Hereβs some of what players can expect:
