Crossovers now make up more than 50% of all new Fortnite cosmetics

Since the launch of Chapter 2 in 2019, Fortnite has slowly increased the amount of collaborations released during each Season. Before the surge in crossovers, they typically made up 20% of all newly released cosmetics. Season 4 of Chapter 2 raised this amount to 28%, with the following Seasons containing an average of 36.5%.

Over 52% of the 183 Item Shop cosmetics released during Chapter 3 Season 1 were from crossovers. This number was largely increased by collaborations with Marvel - which included the release of 20 new cosmetics based on Spider-Man, MJ, Kate Bishop, Clint Barton, Green Goblin, Rogue and Gambit. Season 2 followed this with 49% of its new cosmetics being the result of crossovers, many of which being from other games.

With no sign of slowing down soon, it wouldn't be surprising to see Fortnite reach a point where only new crossover items are being created. The decreasing amount of original Fortnite cosmetics being released is at an all-time low in Chapter 3 and, as Epic gets closer to Fortnite's move away from Battle Royale, it's likely original items will be reduced to focus on the main attraction - crossovers.
