Fortnite Battle Passes are No Longer Exclusive

In a surprising update to the Fortnite cosmetics system, Epic Games has announced that items released as part of future Battle Passes can now be sold in the Shop at a later date.

The current system, which has been active since Fortnite's implementation of the Battle Pass in Season 2, makes all Seasonal cosmetics exclusive and ineligible to return. In a blog post released today, Epic announced their decision to change this system, removing cosmetic exclusivity, allowing items to return 18 months after a Battle Pass ends.

Epic didn't reveal how this new system will work, and how Battle Pass cosmetics will be priced in the Item Shop, but they did share some key details players should note:

  • Battle Pass items may include a different number of alt Styles each time they come to the Shop
  • All cosmetic types are eligible to become available in the Shop after 18 months
  • Not all items are guaranteed to return
  • Battle Pass-exclusive items may still exist, but will be labelled as such in-game
  • Bonus Rewards and Quest Rewards are also eligible to become available in the Shop
  • Collaboration Battle Pass cosmetics may also come to the Shop after 18 months

Epic did confirm that the price of the Battle Pass will remain at 950 V-Bucks, and the pass will continue to include 1,500 as rewards. The giftable price of the Battle Pass will also remain the same for your region.

Despite the significance of the changes announced today, it's important to note that they do not apply to previous Battle Passes. Outfits like Deadpool, Midas and Ultima Knight remain Battle Pass-exclusive. Chapter 5 Season 4's pass will be the first to use this new system, and its cosmetics will become eligible to return in May 2026.
